EcoKids helps local Playgroup with fundraising to donate toys to local Children's Hospital ward

There’s something special about Barney’s Playbarn.

They create a welcoming play area for you and your little ones to enjoy, take the stress of kids parties away and still find to time to fundraise for others.

Barney’s Playbarn signed up to EcoKids Clothes Recycling in 2011 with the aim to donate the money raised to a good cause. Last year they chose Lucy’s Bluebird Trust. Lucy’s Bluebird Trust was set up to be able to help Lucy, aged just 10 years old, keep smiling through her battle with Cancer. They had three fundraising collections over the year which totalled £2181.36, every penny of which was donated to Lucy’s Bluebird Trust.

There was the added bonus that last year one of their fundraising collections managed to collect the most textiles in kg therefore Barneys Playbarn won the first EcoKids competition and the prize of a Samsung Camera!

A new year of fundraising collections has started for Barneys Playbarn and with it a new cause to raise money for. They had their first collection last month and raised £221.51. Amazing! Their plan for the money raised through EcoKids collections this year is to donate it the Children’s Ward at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. They money will be used to buy toys for the ward. Following their collection last month the first delivery of toys has been made to the hospital!

EcoKids are thrilled to know that the money they are helping Barney’s to raise is contributing towards making a difference. We are over the moon that something so simple as clothes recycling gives organisations the chance to help others. Of course, charities themselves can also sign up to EcoKids so if you know any good causes that are looking for fundraising idea, send them to
